Grunge Birthday Card

My oldest kiddo turned 10 today!  I can't believe how time flies!  Since he is not into the "cutsie" cards anymore I decided to use the Grunge Me and Rock On stamp sets from Papertrey Ink.  These sets are so fun to use and I can imagine tons of possibilities for cards!  This is another card I dreamed about, I know crazy, but it turned out pretty much how I imagined it!

On the red cardstock I stamped the splattered paint in Versamark and used white chalk ink on the background.

I stamped some music notes on the inside of the card to add a little flair.

I thought that I would fussy cut the guitar and pop it up over the stamped version on the card.  When I stamped on the textured cardstock the ink didn't go into all of the crevices and I chose to go with that because I thought it looked more distressed.  I love happy accidents!

Lately I have been doing a lot of CAS cards so this was a bit of a departure from my norm but I had a lot of fun with it and I think I will be doing more of these in the future!

I would like to enter this card in these two challenges:

The Long and Short of it

Well it's time to play with CAS-ual Fridays again!  This weeks challenge was to create a card that was 4x9.  That is a really long card!  I have been wanting to create a scene with the palm tree from this Market Street stamp set and I thought this was a perfect opportunity.  I embossed the tree and used watercolor pencils to colour it in.  I then used my Silhouette to cut out the water border, added a few rhinestones and voila!  I love these challenges!  Hope you enjoy!

Meet Me Poolside

Today I am playing in The Playdate Cafe. This week's challenge is colorsplash, but we get to use the color of our choice!  I have been wanting to use the Chillaxin' stamp set from Market Street Stamps for awhile and this gave me the perfect opportunity.  This stamp set is so much fun and they stamp really well!  I think I will be using it a lot in the future!  Well I hope everyone gets to meet someone poolside and cool off in this hot weather.  Enjoy!

Hugs and Kisses

Well it is time for another CAS-ual Fridays challenge and this one is another good one.  The theme is Sweets and Treats.  When I was thinking about what to do I started thinking about Hershey kisses.  Then I started thinking about some sentiments that would go with it, which brought me to some Valentine's sentiments.  Valentine's sentiments don't have to only be used for Valentine's day, do they?  I started out by trying to use foil to make the wrapper but thought it would be a lot easier if I just bought some Hershey's kisses and used the real wrapper.  A few Hershey's kisses and a stamped sentiment later and I had a very sweet card.  Hope you enjoy!

Owl Card #2

I have been waiting for the opportunity to make another owl card since I made this one awhile ago.  Since I made the last owl card there have been some new variations of the cute little owl for the Silhouette.  I love this owl's eyelashes!  She is so cute!  When they posted the new challenge for this week over at CAS-ual Fridays I knew exactly what I wanted to do!  Shaped cards are so much fun to make and I don't do them nearly enough so I had a great time with this one!  I used Versamark on the heart using a stamp from TPC Studios and the twine is from The Twinery. I think I will be making lots of variations of this card!

Birdhouse Card

Just popping in to share a card I made not long ago with some great birdhouse stamps.  I am trying to hone my skills with the watercolor pencils and I thought this stamp would work well.  I used my trusty Silhouette to cut out the tag.  LOVE that machine.  Enjoy!

Tic Tac Toe with CAS-ual Fridays

Well it has been an exciting start to the summer here at the Wood house.  With swim lessons and my older kids getting out of school there have been a lot of schedule changes.  But I am back on track and ready to play with CAS-ual Fridays this week.  This weeks theme is Tic Tac Toe and you pick which three elements to use on the card.  I chose gems, dies or punch, and flowers.  I had seen these flowers made with paper and I wanted to try it with crepe paper to give it more of a ruffled effect.  I think I might be doing a lot more of these, they are so simple.  You punch the crepe paper out with a flower punch(that's where my punch came into the card) and after you have 5 or more layers you attach them with a brad and gather the layers.  It seems no matter how I positioned my card I could not get the sentiment to show up better.  It is a soft pink that says thinking of you.  Another fun week with CAS-ual Fridays
