Lisa's Blog Candy

Have you ever checked out Lisa Petrella's blog?  She is an amazing card maker and I always enjoy checking out her cards!  She is giving out some blog candy and one of the ways you can enter is to post something about her blog.  I have been following Lisa's blog for about a year now and she is quite inspiring!  I think my favorite thing about her cards is how skillfully she paper pieces.  I thought I would share a few of my favorite cards she has created in the past.  Hope you enjoy!

Market Street Stamps Sketch Challenge #5

Just checking in with a card that I made for the current Market Street Stamps sketch challenge.  I am having so much fun with the Gone Campin stamp set.  Just when I think I have run out of ways to use it I come up with more.  This little squiter has broken it's sucker!  I wanted to use a color palette that was a little more masculine since most of my cards tend to be girly.  I used the Little boy line from Echo Park.  Love that paper!  I punched the brown paper with the plaid edger from EK Success.  Some distressing, inking, and metal accents and I'm done!  Hope you like it!

Hey Good Lookin'

When I saw the colors this week at The Play Date Cafe I thought they were too great not to play along.  The sponsor this week is Market Street Stamps so I pulled out my Chillaxin stamp set and inked up the adorable bathing suit.  The sketch this week at Card Patterns worked well with what I had in mind.  So a with a little bit of ink and a couple of flowers I was set.  Hope you enjoy!

CAS-ual Fridays-Stuck on You

Good morning to you!  I am checking in this morning with a card for this weeks CAS-ual Fridays challenge.  This week is all about stickers.  I have tons of stickers that I buy and never end up using so into my stash I went...

I love this glittery cat sticker, ominous but cute at the same time.  Is that possible?

I wanted something to go along the bottom so I went to the Silhouette site and found this great border. A little bit of layering and I was all done! I love the fall and can't wait for the weather to cool and the leaves to start changing!  Well that's it for now see ya soon!

Market Street Stamps Block Party

Is anyone ready for a Block Party?!  I know I am!  Market Street Stamps is having a fun contest after their August release!  You just have to create a project with their great stamps.  I had so much fun working with the Gone Campin stamp set.  I have so many more ideas and I can't wait to get my projects started!

I thought it would be fun to have the marshmallow be riding along in the camper.  I distressed the edges to give it a more outdoorsy feel.  Then I used the swirl from the campfire stamp behind the camper to make it look like it was on the move.

To finish off the scene I die cut some "camping"  images with my Silhouette.  I love those signs that have the arrows pointing every which way so I had to include that!

I die cut a log and used the campfire stamp again to stamp the rings at the end to give it a more realistic feel.  This stamp set is so sweet it will definitely be getting a lot of use

Denami Sketch Challenge #09

It's time for a Denami Sketch Challenge!  I'm cutting it a little close but I got my card done!  I have never entered a card in the sketch challenges before but I always love the inspiration from other cardmakers. This is a fun sketch that I think has so many possibilities!

I think I was channeling Lisa Petrella when I made this card!  I paper pieced a lot.  If you haven't checked out her blog it is worth your time, she is amazing!  It was fun to paper piece the packages with patterned paper from the Abbey Road collection from My Mind's Eye.

I used the Mimi's Shopping Spree stamp for this card.  I love this one because I think it is very versatile.  I inked the edges because I felt it gave the card a finishing touch and then added a little bling,  which I always enjoy!  Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

It's time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!  I have never played along before so I am really excited to enter this card!  We had to make a card that was inspired by the picture below.  When I saw it the first thing that caught my eye was the pattern on the suitcase lining.  It's very lacy!  I hadn't used my Mehndi Medallion set yet so it was the perfect time to ink it up!  I loved the colors from the flowers and greenery so that is where I got my color combo.  Hop on over to Nichole Heady's blog to look at all of the fabulous cards, there are some truly talented people out there!

I cut out the center of the large Mehndi and popped it up for a little bit of dimension.

Then I pulled out the Mega Mixed Messages stamp set for the sentiment, added a little bit of baker's twine and voila!  Hope you enjoy!

It's time for another challenge at CAS-ual Fridays!  This weeks theme is embossing.  I chose to do heat embossing because I don't do that nearly enough!  I also thought I would play along this week at Papertake Weekly Challenge because the theme is Dies to Die for!  If you've read my blog at all you know I LOVE my Silhouette and I used it to cut out the background for this card.  I embossed the sentiments(Papertrey Ink's Mega Mixed Messages)  using silver embossing powder to give it a little shimmer.  Then I added a few rhinestones, because who doesn't love a little bling!  Hope you enjoy!

DeNami Bloghop-Mini Cards

I am so excited to be a part of the DeNami Blog Hop this month!  If you are on track you should have come from Karen's blog.  If you got lost you can head back to the DeNami Blog.  And now on to the fun stuff!  I was first introduced to DeNami stamps a year ago at a craft show.  I asked Nami a million questions and she was so enthusiastic and helpful that I spent most of my time shopping at their booth!  After the show I went to the DeNami website and then the blog, the rest was history!  I didn't know that there was a whole online world with card challenges and blog hops and some of the most amazingly talented cardmakers out there!  Thanks to the designers at DeNami I have been inspired ever since!  Anyway, enough with the gushing, on to the card.  This little chickie was the first DeNami stamp I ever bought.  I used a Sizzix embossing folder for the heart background, a little bit of twine from The Twinery, some Stickles and voila!  I didn't stamp a sentiment because I thought I could use this card for a baby shower or a birthday card.  I love using little cards when my kids go to birthdays!  Stick it in a gift bag with the present and you're good to go!

This card is 3 1/2 x 3 1/2.  Because I use twine so often I wanted to try using notches to hold it into place.  I have never done this before.  I think I will be using this technique a lot!

I wanted to add a few Stickles to the flower and the dots to add a little sparkle.  In my opinion, you can never have enough bling!

Thanks for taking a look at my card.  Now you are off to the amazing Vera Wirianta Yate's blog.

Grunge Birthday Card

My oldest kiddo turned 10 today!  I can't believe how time flies!  Since he is not into the "cutsie" cards anymore I decided to use the Grunge Me and Rock On stamp sets from Papertrey Ink.  These sets are so fun to use and I can imagine tons of possibilities for cards!  This is another card I dreamed about, I know crazy, but it turned out pretty much how I imagined it!

On the red cardstock I stamped the splattered paint in Versamark and used white chalk ink on the background.

I stamped some music notes on the inside of the card to add a little flair.

I thought that I would fussy cut the guitar and pop it up over the stamped version on the card.  When I stamped on the textured cardstock the ink didn't go into all of the crevices and I chose to go with that because I thought it looked more distressed.  I love happy accidents!

Lately I have been doing a lot of CAS cards so this was a bit of a departure from my norm but I had a lot of fun with it and I think I will be doing more of these in the future!

I would like to enter this card in these two challenges:

The Long and Short of it

Well it's time to play with CAS-ual Fridays again!  This weeks challenge was to create a card that was 4x9.  That is a really long card!  I have been wanting to create a scene with the palm tree from this Market Street stamp set and I thought this was a perfect opportunity.  I embossed the tree and used watercolor pencils to colour it in.  I then used my Silhouette to cut out the water border, added a few rhinestones and voila!  I love these challenges!  Hope you enjoy!
